Programme Rationale

Structure of the planned joint educational programme

“Sustainability & Climate Change” (30 ECTS credits)

The “heart” of the joint educational programme comprises two courses that form the micro-credential “Sustainability & Climate Change”.

In addition to this, each participating university will identify a number of elective courses, which will probably be divided into “head” or theory-based (10 ECTS credits) and “hands-on” or practice orientated (10 ECTS credits). Ideally, students can attend courses at their home institution (in their mother tongue or in English) or at Aurora partner institutions according to their own needs to complete the 30 ECTS credit programme.

Thematically and through their didactics, the courses support the desired qualification profile. In terms of teaching and learning approaches, the courses focus on researcher-led and challenge-based learning as described in the Aurora Education Vision. This will, in particular, include field trips and excursions.

The joint educational programme “Sustainability & Climate Change” is reaching out to students who currently cannot participate in mobility programmes (on a semester basis). It will provide an integrated international learning environment for students to circulate between Aurora universities virtually or with the help of short-term mobility formats, of course, without neglecting the carbon footprint.
