We are delighted to extend an invitation to the two-day symposium “Scripting Futures for Urban Sustainability,” happening on June 6-7, 2024, at the Essen campus and the College for Sciences and Humanities, Essen. The event will be accessible online throughout the day, and we warmly welcome virtual participation in all sessions. This symposium marks the conclusion of the City Scripts Graduate Research Group, generously supported by the Volkswagen Foundation. Additionally, it will serve as the kick-off to the Healthy Cities Initiative by the Aurora Transdisciplinary Educational Hubs.
Bringing together scholars, students, and practitioners from the humanities, social sciences, and the medical field, the symposium will delve into the pivotal role of storytelling in urban planning and sustainability. Discussions will revolve around how narratives can shape urban evolution and the potential impact of tangible changes in urban health management, sports, and planning on societal metamorphosis.
A key event feature is the public lecture by Professor Marcus Zepf, Co-Director of E-City at Université Paris-Est Créteil and UDE Aurora Fellow for summer 2024, titled “Adaptable and Healthy Cities: Permanent Autopoietic Process,” scheduled for June 7th at 18:15.
The symposium will showcase talks by 22 international researchers, a student poster display, student presentations, a book debut, student dialogues, and networking prospects to nurture collaboration and idea exchange. Delectable refreshments, including food, wine, water, and light snacks, will be available for attendees in person.
Kindly register here to confirm your attendance and gain access to the sessions.
We invite you to be part of this stimulating academic assembly to engage, learn, and contribute towards the future of urban sustainability.
