COIL Professional Development Online Workshop – June 2025

The URV will host an online training program from 3 to 25 June 2025 for instructors who already have a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) partner and want to develop their project step by step.
The methodology will combine asynchronous work (visualise videos and work with your partner autonomously) and synchronous sessions to share progress, debate on questions and doubts and possible approaches, and peer learn.
The first synchronous session will be held on 3 June 2025 (15:00–16:00 CET), with the final session on 25 June 2025 (12:00–13:00 CET). An additional session will be scheduled in consultation with participants.
Hosted by Universitat Rovira i Virgili within the Work Package 8 framework—Task Team 8.3: Building Awareness and Task Team 8.2: Internationalisation at Home—this professional development workshop is aimed at all lecturers within the alliance and designed to prepare and enhance your COIL practice.
Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) opens a world of opportunities for active, applied, and collaborative activities that engage and motivate students while invigorating your teaching practice.
The online training addresses both the correct setup of a COIL project as well as preparation of both teachers and students for international collaboration. It will tackle how to design a COIL activity, which are the basic elements of it, how to support students’ intercultural skills online, considerations for a strong relationship with your COIL teaching partner, how to use reflection activities or how to create and assess the intended learning outcomes of a COIL activity.
Making good design choices for your COIL Project takes careful consideration and an open mind. In the same way, preparing students to work with peers in another country online can enrich the experience and help ensure its success.
Registration will be open after the Fair (8 April 2025) and participation will be restricted to those who can attend with a partner. If you need assistance with this matchmaking, we will be pleased to help you.
