Resonant column-torsional shear test device

The apparatus allows to carry out resonant column and torsional shear tests on the same saturated soil specimen, applying effective isotropic confining stress ranging between 20 kPa and 800 kPa. The torque actuator allows to investigate the non linear mechanical behaviour of both soft and hard soils up to a maximum shear strain of about 0.5%. Shear modulus and damping ratio of soil can be measured at increasing shear strain. strain rate behaviour of soil can also be investigated.
Tests can be performed in undrained and drained conditions measuring pore pressure build-up and volume change respectively.
