The course focuses on the problems arising from the non-democratic past and the process of democratization in Central Europe. It compares the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia – the countries of the Visegrad Group. The course helps students to understand the main problems of democratic consolidation and why democratic backsliding is taking place here. It also addresses the complex relations between these countries and the EU. The course is taught in a hybrid format with e-learning support in Moodle.
This course will be taught by Mgr. Petra Měšťánková, Ph.D. To enroll, please contact Marek Sekanina (marek.sekanina@upol.cz)
