Python Software Carpentry
Python is a popular language for research computing, and great for general-purpose programming as well. Would you like to improve your research process by learning how to program with Python, but never had the opportunity to actually learn programming in a structured way?
VU Amsterdam is organising an online Software Carpentry workshop that will help programming novices to gain fundamental software skills. The Software Carpentry workshop is over 2-half-days, with hands-on training that will cover basic programming and data visualisation with Python – everything you need to start your research programming career! Software Carpentry aims to help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.
The Software Carpentry course is a multi-day event consisting of 2 half-days:
- Tuesday 11.11.2025 (10:00 – 14:00 CEST)
- Thursday 13.11.2025 (10:00 – 14:00 CEST)
