Peace Education

What role do universities play in shaping lasting and sustainable peace?

Aurora Peace Education emerged as a direct response to the Russian invasion, which directly impacted our partners at Karazin Kharkiv National University (KKNU). Recognising their urgent need for support, Aurora initiated efforts to strengthen capacities in peace education and conflict transformation at KKNU.

A central outcome is the ongoing development of the Karazin University Peace Education Hub. This will be a dedicated physical center designed to equip the university (KKNU) to become a regional leader in advancing peace education and fostering resilience in across communities.

Beyond this initiative, Aurora has expanded its efforts by bringing together academics from diverse peacebuilding disciplines, establishing peacebuilding as a central focus.

As a result, Aurora has supported and co-organized multiple academic conferences and forums. These efforts have led to the formation of a vibrant peacebuilding community of practice, strengthening long-term collaboration and impact across institutions.
