Student involvement isn’t an afterthought at Aurora — it’s one of the core themes the whole network is built around, at individual universities and across the consortium as a whole.

Students are treated as full partners in the network, not just participants. Each university elects two students to the Aurora Student Council, and together they decide what matters most: both for their own campus activities and for Aurora’s broader priorities.

The Council elects the Aurora Student Council President, who fully participates in the General Council and Board meetings. Through this role, students get an active voice in shaping Aurora, and Aurora stays accountable to the students it’s meant to serve.

There’s no single definition of what student engagement looks like in practice. It can mean:

  • Students propose and help shape joint Aurora activities
  • Student reps give input on Aurora’s vision, strategy, and daily operations
  • Students represent Auroa
  • Efforts to build Aurora’s reputation as a network that offers an education that actually shapes people, not just their CVs
  • Independent projects students start themselves, based on what they think matters
