seizmic MSCA DN
seizmic is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme. The network trains 15 doctoral candidates across nine academic institutions and ten industry and impact partners to investigate how social enterprises can scale beyond their original context.
The seizmic MSCA Doctoral Network explores how social enterprises can grow their impact and why some successfully scale while others remain local. Funded by the European Union through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and coordinated by Copenhagen Business School, the network brings together 15 doctoral researchers across nine universities and ten partner organisations from industry and the impact sector, including Aurora.
Social enterprises play a vital role in addressing complex societal challenges, yet there is still limited understanding of how successful solutions can be replicated and expanded across regions, sectors, and communities. seizmic was established to bridge this knowledge gap and generate practical insights that support sustainable social impact at scale.
Over a three-year programme, doctoral researchers investigate key factors that influence growth and scalability, including organisational design, financing models, leadership capabilities, digital innovation, and the application of AI. Each researcher is hosted by a university while benefiting from joint supervision, international collaboration, and placements with partner organisations, creating a rich interdisciplinary research environment.
The network also shares its findings and experiences through seizmic Stories, its dedicated podcast series.
