EURIDICE
EURIDICE (European Inclusive Education for Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship) is an EU-funded project developing a new generation of interdisciplinary educational programmes for the digital age. Coordinated by Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, the project brings together eleven universities across Europe, two independent digital research centres of excellence, two societally oriented cultural institutes, six small and medium-sized enterprises, and four associate partner universities, three of which are from the Global South.
The project addresses a fundamental challenge facing Europe today. The digital transition is reshaping how we work, live, and interact, yet Europe remains heavily dependent on digital products and infrastructure from other continents. Digital technologies carry risks of bias, exclusion, and discrimination when designed without attention to human values. The European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles calls for a digital society that puts people at the centre of innovation, protecting democracy and human rights. EURIDICE was built to answer that call by training professionals who can bridge the technical and the societal.
The project delivers three interconnected educational programmes. The centrepiece is a two-year EU Joint Master degree in Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship, offering 120 ECTS across participating universities with a capacity of 300 students per year. Alongside it, a teacher capacity building programme trains academic staff to deliver digital skills education across disciplines, and a professional life-long learning programme provides short certified modules for professionals and executives in non-ICT sectors.
All programmes are designed and delivered as microcredentials in line with the European Microcredential Framework, ensuring portability and quality assurance across borders. A dedicated EURIDICE Microcredential Review and Certification Board oversees this process and will continue operating beyond the project’s four-year lifetime.
A defining feature of EURIDICE is its Collaboratorium, an innovative concept for Blended International Hybrid Learning that combines online collaboration with in-person intensive sessions and summer schools. The approach is built on the conviction that community, belonging, and face-to-face interaction cannot be replaced by virtual learning alone.
Seven Aurora member universities and two Aurora associate member universities are part of the EURIDICE consortium. These include VU Amsterdam, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, University of Innsbruck, University of Iceland, Palacký University Olomouc, Copenhagen Business School, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The project is a direct spin-off of Aurora Universities and reflects our commitment to education that serves society.
EURIDICE is co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL-2022-SKILLS-03).
