The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) will host an online training programme for instructors who already have a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) partner and wish to develop their project step by step.

The workshop will take place from 2 to 30 June 2026, combining asynchronous work with a series of synchronous online sessions.

The methodology integrates flexible asynchronous activities—including video-based learning and independent collaboration with your partner—with live sessions designed to share progress, address questions, explore different approaches, and foster peer learning.

The first synchronous session will be held on 2 June 2026, with the final session scheduled for 30 June 2026. Additional sessions may be organised in consultation with participants.

Hosted by Universitat Rovira i Virgili within the Aurora alliance framework, this professional development workshop is aimed at academic staff and is designed to support and enhance your COIL practice.

Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) offers a wide range of opportunities for active, applied, and collaborative teaching. It enables students to engage in meaningful international experiences while enriching teaching practices and strengthening intercultural learning.

The training will address both the design and implementation of a COIL project. Topics include:

  • Structuring and planning a COIL activity
  • Defining key components and learning outcomes
  • Supporting students’ intercultural collaboration online
  • Building and maintaining an effective partnership with your COIL co-teacher
  • Designing reflection activities
  • Assessing student learning in an international online context

Careful design and preparation are essential to ensure a successful COIL experience. This workshop will guide participants through the process while encouraging experimentation and collaboration.

Registration

  • Registration will open from 8 April until 15 May 2026.
  • A registration form will be available soon and will be sent to COIL Fair participants via email.
  • Places are limited and priority will be given to applicants who already have a COIL partner. If needed, support for partner matchmaking can be provided.
