Description This one-day workshop introduces doctoral researchers to the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic work and (social) entrepreneurship research. The focus is on both research with AI—how AI (e.g. GenAI or machine learning) can be used for literature reviews, data analysis, and writing and research on AI, exploring how AI technologies shape organizations, collaboration, and innovation, also within the social entrepreneurship domain. Participants will share experiences, reflect on ethical and methodological challenges, and discuss EU regulations affecting research practices. The day combines short expert inputs, peer learning, and hands-on exercises to help participants integrate AI responsibly and effectively into their research workflows. Key Themes • Research with AI: How GenAI can be used as a methodological tool that might support literature review, coding, analysis and ethical implications of integrating AI into research workflows. • Research on AI: How GenAI is researched as an instrumental technology shaping academic writing and research in different domains (e.g. entrepreneurship and innovation, social entrepreneurship and sustainable innovation) • Regulation and Integrity: Discussion of EU AI regulations and university regulations, academic acceptance of AI-assisted research, and principles for responsible use. Expected Outcomes Participants will gain insights into how AI can be used as a methodological and instrumental tool for academic writing and gain a better understanding of responsible research practices, and ideas for future collaborations on AI-related topics within the seizmic network. The participants will be assigned readings before and will be asked to provide 1-2 pages summarizing their experience with AI and few of their most relevant AI related readings in the field. Date: 23 March 2026 – 19:00 Social dinner: The social dinner will take place at Weisses Rössl, Kiebachgasse 8, 6020 Innsbruck. Date: 24 March 2026 Location: University of Innsbruck- Campus Universitätsstraße – Lecture room SOWI/Fakultätssitzungssaal (annex 1) Organizers: University of Innsbruck and Copenhagen Business School Target Group: The seizmic Doctoral Candidates, supervisors and other interested PhDs If you want to have more information, please contact: sophie.schirle@uibk.ac.at
