The cyclic simple shear cell is a sophisticated apparatus, which can work with a double configuration: with rigid and flexible boundaries. In the latter, specimen is enclosed with an unreinforced latex membrane confined by pressurized water. A sophisticated control system allows to guarantee the K0-condition. This apparatus can perform cyclic and monotonic tests. It is particularly suited to evaluate the liquefaction resistance of soils.
