READ-COOP SCE with limited liability was established as a European Cooperative Society to sustain and further develop the Transkribus platform. Transkribus is a comprehensive platform for handwritten text recognition used by thousands of scholars, archivists, librarians and family-historians worldwide. Transkribus was developed within the Horizon 2020 project READ (Recognition and Enrichment of Archival Documents) by a consortium of leading research groups from all over Europe, headed by the University of Innsbruck.

Since its existence, the Brenner Archive Research Institute has endeavored to expand its collections in order to create or expand the basis for research projects. Normally, this is done through donations, but if it is not possible otherwise, also through purchases.
